The Boys’ Festival is celebrated on May 5th in Japan. This is a day to pray for boys’ health and happiness by hang up carp steamers in the gardens, roofs or balconies to express hope for each of their boys to grow and be as healthy and strong as the wild carp which is a symbol for long-life.
